LAAT LEADS TEACHER EXCELLENCE AS NEW NPQ DELIVERY PARTNER

In recognition of its success in supporting teacher excellence, The Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust (LAAT) has been selected as a Delivery Partner with the Church of England for the National Professional Qualifications (NPQ). The NPQ programme offers courses to develop the knowledge and skills of current and aspiring leaders in UK schools. A thriving Multi Academy Trust formed in 2013 by the Diocese of Lincoln to meet the needs of Church schools across Greater Lincolnshire, the LAAT will be a NPQ Delivery Partner for the East Midlands area.

Jackie Waters-Dewhurst, Chief Executive Officer of the LAAT, says she and her team are delighted to be chosen from a large number of applicants to help deliver the new NPQs from September 2021. She comments: “This is an exciting next step for the LAAT and will bring many benefits for our growing family of schools. We believe it recognises the importance the Trust has always placed on providing continuing professional development (CPD) training to inspire outstanding school leaders with the ability to get the best outcomes for young people and staff within the organisation.”  During 2020/21, the LAAT’s School Improvement Team delivered 97 CPD courses to senior staff across the 18 academies which are currently part of the Trust.

The Church of England Education Office in partnership with the Catholic Education Service is one of nine national providers to offer the full range of NPQs via Delivery Partners, such as the LAAT. Placing teacher excellence at the heart of the education sector’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, the new NPQ framework includes Senior Leadership, Headship, and Executive Leadership courses, as well as NPQs for teachers and leaders who want to develop their expertise in specialist areas of teaching practice. They will offer professional development opportunities that work for leaders in all schools – small and large, primary and secondary, rural and urban.

In conclusion, Jackie Waters-Dewhurst says: “As a Delivery Partner for these important national qualifications for the teaching profession, the LAAT can continue to drive excellence, help school leaders achieve their full potential, and secure the best teaching experience for every child. Furthermore, it will create excellent lateral career development opportunities for some of our leaders and teachers who will be involved with delivery of the course content.”
